What You Post In Facebook Groups Really Says About You.
Last week I read a great post by Fontella Williams where she is fighting back about the spam that she and everyone receives on Facebook when they get a friend request.
Check out Fontella’s blog post “Warning: YOUR Facebook Requests Are Being Denied!!” and please leave a comment and share her post as it is well worth reading and I guarantee that your Facebook friends will love it.
This got me thinking and yes I am going to get on my soap box here because everyday people are posting the same ads for the same business opportunities in the same groups.
Before I get into the spam and what it really says about you as a network marketer if you can be called that is why on earth would you want to do this type of marketing.
Firstly, you post these ads in groups where there are 100s if not 1000s of other network marketers. Those network marketers, for the most part will have their own business already and they will more than likely be happy with that business.
Now what makes you think that they would give up what they are doing, drop everything and sign up with you?
You don’t offer anything that they already have. They will still have the same problems and the same trials to overcome.
Think about what you are offering, it’s like trying to sell ice to the Eskimos!
Check out these ads below and read what they say in their ads. I have blanked out the names to protect the ignorant.
So what do you think this says about the people who post these types of ads in groups on Facebook. Here is what it really says:
“Hi, I am a new network marketer and I have no interest in you or building a lasting working relationship with you. All I am interested in is how much money you are going to make me. I am completely lazy as I can’t even be bothered to learn how to build relationship with people. I have found this great opportunity that you can make me a lot of money and if this one does not work out don’t worry because I will find another scheme next week to join which I know will let you make me a lot of money. So how about whatever your name is, let’s get started”
Check out the bottom ad, 160,000 people in this person’s smart line! That’s 160,000 lazy people that this person has attracted to him. You post stuff like this and you will attract like minded people.
Attraction marketing works like this even if you have no idea what attraction marketing is because you will attract lazy people to your business and people who are desperate, needy and hopeful.
You don’t need to post this kind of stuff, it will never do anything for you and if you want to build a successful business you really want to be attracting successful people to you to work with.
Now I going to get of my soap box and stop ranting!
Keep posting you blog content, motivational quotes and hints and tips that actually help people and their business.
You know who you are that’s posting this great content, let’s all stick together and educate the uneducated.
Thank you very much for taking the time to view this post. Please leave a comment and share this post with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reddit and Google Buzz.

Hi Tristram,
Keep up your great work.
it's hard to find something to add to what are you rightfully saying. Perhaps only a “That's spam. Period.” ? And of course, it's a giant opportunity for us to educate the ignorant. I simply wonder if the need of education and the level awareness of the need are in harmony
Take care
Oliver
Hi Tristam,
Yea I remember when Fontella wrote this post about 3 weeks ago. It's true, whatever you post says a lot about you. I'm going to repost this!
Sherman
Tristram,
Well said! I couldn't agree with you more! My goal is to offer people something that they don't already have and are seeking out. My posts mirror that thought.
Thanks for Sharing!!
Best,
Cheryl VanOrnum
Thanks Oliver,
Maybe they don't want to be educated, who knows. We just have to keep doing what we are doing.
Have a great day.
Tristram
Hi Sherman,
You attract what you post. Thanks for for sharing.
Tristram
Hi Cheryl,
That's the name of the game, helping others. Another business opportunity is nothing more than a problem.
Thanks for the comment.
Tristram
Tristam,
Good points you make in your post, the one that stuck with me the most is “160,000 people in this person’s smart line! That’s 160,000 lazy people that this person has attracted to him.” it truly is about Value and not Quantity but helping a person one at time… What you attract is what you get, i rather have 10 people that find value and are working smart and duplicating what i do rather than have 100,000 people do nothing but wait for their lottery ticket.
Here is what irks me, I join a group promising me some sort of training, say generating traffic. And then all they do every few days is send me their auto-responder or event template emails for the system they are promoting.
Hi Chris,
So true, 10 people working the business and making a better life for themselves is so much better than 160,000 lazy people doing nothing. Might as well not bother. Thanks for stopping by.
Tristram
Hi Peter,
Yeah, haven't thought of that but you're right. Some of the group owners are just as bad.
Have a great day.

I started to delete Facebook friends that send me those types of messages. I think I deleted about 20 friends just for YourNight promos. They actually have my inbox overloaded with about 2000 messages.
Just like Peter said, there is no training but I have a different approach. I just post my next blog post.
Why?
- it has my name on it
- it teaches a different lesson every time
- it is not spammy
- it different every single time
- it shows people who I am, not just someone trying to promote themselves.
Thanks for the great post

Hi Tristram,
This is what we're going to have to get used to in the modern day and age of social media. These novices will eventually learn. If they don't they'll quit. But by then, a whole new breed of social spammers will have taken up the torch. The unfortunate thing is they are making it hard for networkers who are building genuine relationships on Facebook. FB hates us!
But hopefully, the more they see messages and hints like this, some will take notice and stop their annoying practices.

Wayne
Great points Tristram. I'm reminded of Jim Rohn's advice about sharing our time with those who deserve it and not necessarily those who need it :0)
Peter I find 95% of those who join groups never post, comment or get involved. I believe lots never go back to the the group once they've clicked the join button. It's learning by osmosis y'know… not sure it works though??
Hi Tommy,
I also delete them, as soon as they spam me. I also block them as well!
Posting blog posts is great. I do about 80% of my posts are for my blog the rest is lead capture page and quotes.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Hi Wayne,
So true, I don't think we will ever win the war on this one until the mindset changes from the top down through the bottom. Matbe the MLM companise don't want their distributors learning how to really help people just to retail there products. Could be a good blog post for discussion.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Hi Anne,
These posts do sound needy I think and show no effort what so ever. Blog posts and article, anything of value shows a bit of hard work has been put it. Thats the people who deserve it.
Thanks for your comments and have a great day.

No Problemo… I enjoy your articlesTtristram
Hey Tristram!
I agree with you and I hate those 360 people! If you're going to post ads on Facebook, then they need to have some intrigue, value, and something to offer. I occasionally post ads on Facebook, but the difference is that I post an offer of free training and a way to help people to have success in their current MLM. This makes a HUGE difference in your response because people already see that you are trying to help and you will be the person that actually cares about their success. Once again the power of copywrite comes through!

Posting blog posts on other peoples walls that actually help out other people…LOL…that's unheard of! (wink, wink)
Great stuff brother and keep up the awesome content!
God Bless,
Linus
Amen to that!! GREAT post!
Thanks Anne,
Have a great day.
Tristram
So true Erin,
That 360 thing is the latest but not the last. It has been running for a while now but seems to be fading like all the rest. Thanks for your comment.
Tristram Lodge
Hi Linus,
LOL, yeah it seems like a mad concept but work with me on this one… Ha Ha.
Hopefully the spammers will work this out.
Have a great day.
Tristram
