One thing I changed was what I posted in groups and on the walls. This is such a simple change that has made a massive difference to my business and it involves a blog.

These are just too small examples of what you will learn from this book. It is jam packed full of fantastic training that will take you head and shoulders above all of your competition out there.

In my last post I talked to you about my 3 favourite WordPress Plugins that with allow you to interact with your readers. These are some of the best ways that your readers can comment, ask questions and join your mailing list.

Today I want to talk about get more exposure for your content and how that can happen with these 3 little plugins. They are of course the Wordpress social buttons that you see at the top and bottom of peoples blog posts.

But first let’s look at why having these plugins are so important. I mean if somebody liked your post they could copy and paste the URL and send it to their friends.  That’s never going to work, would you spend time do this……no!

Yet I have seen some blog, not many but some that don’t have any social buttons on them, so there is no way to share that content.

And that’s what you want, to have your content shared on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Stumbleupon, the list goes on but the more shares you have the better it is for you, and here is why.

One of the plugins I use and a lot of people use shows the number of times that the post has been shared around the internet, check out the top of this page. You see the Facebook, Twitter, Digg etc icon well it has a number and that the amount of time my content has been posted to one of those sites.

Second the more times it gets shared well that must mean it a good piece and people trust the content and are happy to share it with their friends. This increase your brand visibility, which in turn positions you as a leader and somebody that can be trusted.

OK, let’s look at the social buttons, or plugins if you like. These are just the ones I use but I would love to hear about the ones you guys are using and the benefits you have from them. Here we go.

Digg Digg Wordpress Plugin – This is a cool little plugin which sits at the top of each of my posts. You can select up to 18 different social buttons like Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Stumbleupon and a load more. Check out the picture below, see the numbers, that lets everyone know how many times that post has been shared.

Fixed Social Plugin – This is a plugin that sits either at the top or bottom of your page or at the side. It is used for two things really which is why I have added it to the page. First it allows some content sharing and also it allows people to connect with you on different social networking sites. I have added an image below, I have put it on it’s side but it is vertical on the blog and you can see on your right.

OnlyWire – This is a new one for me and I have only had it for a few weeks but love it. You can submit your content to over 40 different sites at the click of a button. It takes a bit of time to set up accounts with all of them but I believe its well worth doing. I am watching the results from this one but the early signs are encouraging. This one is free to use as long as you have it visible on your page. Also people can share your content through their Onlywire account.

That’s my 3 favorite Wordpress social buttons and you can download all of these buttons in the Wordpress back office and just set them up and activate them.

Last week I read a great post by Fontella Williams where she is fighting back about the spam that she and everyone receives on Facebook when they get a friend request.

Check out Fontella’s blog post “Warning: YOUR Facebook Requests Are Being Denied!!” and please leave a comment and share her post as it is well worth reading and I guarantee that your Facebook friends will love it.

This got me thinking and yes I am going to get on my soap box here because everyday people are posting the same ads for the same business opportunities in the same groups.

Before I get into the spam and what it really says about you as a network marketer if you can be called that is why on earth would you want to do this type of marketing.

Firstly, you post these ads in groups where there are 100s if not 1000s of other network marketers. Those network marketers, for the most part will have their own business already and they will more than likely be happy with that business.

Now what makes you think that they would give up what they are doing, drop everything and sign up with you?

You don’t offer anything that they already have. They will still have the same problems and the same trials to overcome.

Think about what you are offering, it’s like trying to sell ice to the Eskimos!

Check out these ads below and read what they say in their ads. I have blanked out the names to protect the ignorant.

So what do you think this says about the people who post these types of ads in groups on Facebook. Here is what it really says:

“Hi, I am a new network marketer and I have no interest in you or building a lasting working relationship with you. All I am interested in is how much money you are going to make me. I am completely lazy as I can’t even be bothered to learn how to build relationship with people. I have found this great opportunity that you can make me a lot of money and if this one does not work out don’t worry because I will find another scheme next week to join which I know will let you make me a lot of money. So how about whatever your name is, let’s get started”

Check out the bottom ad, 160,000 people in this person’s smart line! That’s 160,000 lazy people that this person has attracted to him. You post stuff like this and you will attract like minded people.

Attraction marketing works like this even if you have no idea what attraction marketing is because you will attract lazy people to your business and people who are desperate, needy and hopeful.

You don’t need to post this kind of stuff, it will never do anything for you and if you want to build a successful business you really want to be attracting successful people to you to work with.

Now I going to get of my soap box and stop ranting!

Keep posting you blog content, motivational quotes and hints and tips that actually help people and their business.

You know who you are that’s posting this great content, let’s all stick together and educate the uneducated.

When you start out on your network marketing journey you will have a “why” as to what you want to achieve from your business.

Now this could be anything from never working again to putting your kids through school. Whatever the reason it’s your personal destination and you have a long journey ahead of you.

For me I found it very difficult to go from where I was to where I wanted to be as it seemed so far away.

However, as with everything if you break it down into manageable steps it is a lot easier to plan out your future by setting smaller goals.

My upline introduced me to this great tool and I think it is a fantastic exercise to do focus on small goals to get to your final goal.

The first thing you have to do is write a list of the 50 things that you want to change in your life through your business. This can be anything, like never setting your alarm clock again, or taking the kids to the play park every day. Maybe you want to own a Ferrari or learn to fly a plane.

You decide it’s the things that you can’t do now, but that through building your business you will be able to do.

Once you have your list give everything a score from 1 to 5.  This is the time scale that you are going to assign to each goal with 1 being 3 month from the time you write the list, 2 being 6 months, 3 being a year, 4 being 3 years and 5 being 5 years from the time you write the list.

From this you can set small goals and work your way to where you want to be. By break things down in this way you can start to build a plan of action and a path for your journey to success.

Also I believe that when you achieve each goal you set yourself you will still focused and motivated to working towards your next goal.

Oh and I found it to be a fun thing to do, which at the end of the day if it’s not fun then don’t do it.

Of course after the 5 years is up and you have ticked off all 50 accomplishments you can start a new list and keep going!

Sit down and do your list, I promise you it will really get you thinking.

We know there are a lot of scams on the internet but if you check out my post “ Thinking of starting a home based business? – Read this first.” For some hints and tips on what to look for in an online business and how to stay safe.

In this post I want to talk you through 5 business formats you should be wary of and in my opinion why you should avoid them. I have listed them in no particular order.

1. 1.       The Forced Matrix is one that seems to be taken off over the last year or so. Please correct me if I am wrong about that but I don’t really recall them much until that time. So what is it, well basically it involves you registering people before a launch and any overspill gets put under you. You start at the top and find 3 people who go under you. If you find 4 or more they go under the 3 below you. This makes 1st level 1(you), 2^nd level 3, 3^rd level 9, 4^th level 27 and so on. You will also get people who you did not register put under you from other people in the matrix , this is called overspill. It sounds like a great system to build a business but hang on. If you don’t to register anyone only your first 3 and you can get people from over spill why would any of your downline bother to recruit people? Answer, they won’t which breeds a downline of very lazy distributor all hoping that the people below them will do the work. My tip stay well clear.

2.       New Ground Floor opportunities sounds like a great idea to get involved with a brand new company and potentially it could work out great. However, these new companies have no track record, could still have problems to iron out and may just be a scam. You are staking your personal reputation on a business that could fold within a few months. This could cause damage to your reputation that may not be reversible which will be disaster for your potential growth.

3.       Gifting programs , at least that’s what I think it’s called. I found out about this “business” in more detail earlier this week when I received a spam email. I have seen something like this before and can’t believe that anyone would get sucked into this kind of scam.  Here is an extract from the email as to how this works:

        wk 1   Send $2 to 3 people.  Send out on Mondays
          Receive $2 from 14 = $28   Keep $7
        wk 2   Send $7 to 3 people
          Receive $7 from 14 = $98   Keep $8
        wk 3   Send $30 to 3 people
          Receive $30 from 14 = $420  Keep $120
        wk 4   Send $100 to 3 people
          Receive $100 from 14 = $1400   Keep $800
        wk 5   Send $200 to 3 people
          Receive $200 from 14 = $2800   Keep $2050
        wk 6   Send $250 to 3 people
          Receive $250 from 14 = $3500   Keep $2750
 

                You then repeat Wk 6 over and over each week. They tell you who to
                send to in your Eagles Den. If one of the 3 drops out, the admin will replace
                them. Never send money through a like this as i fail to see how this can work only for the person at the top.

4.       Surfing Credits are when you sit in front of your PC clicking on averts and watching a timer count down before moving onto the next ad. You earn something like $0.01 per advert viewed. The timer can last anything from 10 to 20 seconds so lets take a 15 second timer. That’s $0.04 a minute or $2.40 an hour. Your time can be much better spent so don’t get sucked into the glossy ad for these sites.

5.       Home crafts which I’m sure everyone has seen these companies everywhere. A company asks you to assembly a product, like a picture frame, dolls house or just about anything. They send you the kit and it will either be so complicated you need a degree in engineering to assembly the thing or you can put it together but when you send it back it won’t meet the companies strict quality standards. It does not matter how well you put them together you will never meet the guidelines. You end up with a load of products that you and noone else wants.

These are just some of the dodgy business opportunities that are out there with 100s more that I have not mentioned. So if you are looking at working from home do your research first and check out the business.

I was feed my son the other morning and he was tucking into his favourite bottle of milk and well milk so I was just flicking through the TV and caught something that I found very interesting.

It was a report on a program about different technology and blogging was the subject.

A reporter had his Youtube account disabled and everything on the account had been deleted.

This guy had everything on there, from personal videos, work videos and family stuff and with the blink of an eye the lot was gone.

Well what did you think? How easy is it to lose everything that you have worked for.

OK so the guy got his account reinstated, but would you want to spend all that time trying to get your hard work back?

How would you feel if all your hard work was gone at the click of a mouse.

I can tell you it feels like crap, I lost two Facebook accounts so I know like a lot of you how it feels.

I think this highlights the exact reason why you must have your own self hosted blog. This problem could not happen with something that you own.

You do not own your Youtube channel, Facebook page, Twitter account or any of the other social media site or other tools we use. You are subject to someone else’s rules and therefore you have absolutely no choice but to follow them.

Having your own blog is like owning your own piece of cyber-space. It’s your and it can’t be closed down.

Today I want to share with you something that I have been learning over the last couple of weeks.

I have joined a few tribes and doing blog syndication and have been meeting some fantastic people and checking out their great blogs.

To begin with I would share their post but only occasionally leave a comment. However I have changed that outlook and comment on every blog I visit.

I want to share with you 4 secrets as to why you should leave a comment on someone’s blog.

Tip 1: The Blog Owner Will Appreciate It.

Think how you feel when you get comments on your own work? Nice feel right, well that’s how the blog owner will feel.

I great to do a nice thing for other people, I know I love it when I get left comments. Also you are showing that person your appreciation for the work they put into the post.

Tip 2: It Pushes Up The Blog Owners Profile.

That’s right, by leaving a comment other people that visit the site will those comments and think this person has something important to say.

They are more likely to stick around and see what going on. Comments are very powerful attraction tool for a blog.

Tip 3: You Get A Backlink To Your Own Blog.

Your blog is now linked to their blog through the comment. If you are leave good quality comments people will check you out.

I am getting traffic from the blogs that I have left comments on, now it’s early days and the numbers are not mind boggling but thats free traffic to my blog.

Tip 4: That Person Will Visit Your Blog and Comment.

As you can see this is a win win situation for everyone. They get their blog recognised, they feel great, you get a backlink and a comment in return.

This is called Blog Syndication and it is a great way to learn, meet new people and share your work.

Don’t forget to also share the bloggers post by using the share buttons and retweets. This is another great way that they will Thank you for.

If you have a Facebook profile the chances are that you belong to a few groups. Groups are a great place to meet people and get yourself to stand out. Some are great at this but other stand out but for all the wrong reasons.

Post on group walls is a great free advertising method that you should be utilizing on a regular basis but what exactly should you be posting on group walls.

Well this is the 3 different things that I like to post on group walls. You will notice that there isn’t a business opportunity, forced matrix, over spill, ground floor, turnkey, lock your position in today, we launch in 3 days and we’ll build your business for you anywhere in sight and for very good reason. It don’t work guys!

1. The first one I love to do is post links back to my blog of my latest post. This is a great one because if you have your own self hosted blog it’s yours, you own it. It can’t be shutdown like your Facebook account and you can post whatever you like. This is where people can find out what value you have to offer, therefore you start to build relationships and trust with your readers. I even post older blog posts if I think that they add value. I still get comment on post that are a couple of months old. Over a period of time you will build up a lot of posts you can add to your different groups. Don’t forget to ask people to share your posts at the end of each article, this will increase your traffic.
2. The second thing I do is post links back to my capture pages. I don’t do this on a regular basis as I have been getting better results from my blog. However it’s good to mix things up a bit and a capture page is a good way to get people onto your list. Also a capture page is just that, something to exchange information for a name, email address and phone number. Your blog is full of content and value. It can show people how to do something there and then. A capture page can’t until the person has filled out the opt-in form. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with capture pages but I am getting better results with blogs.
3. Lastly every now and then I post motivational, inspirational and personal growth quotes. People love to read quotes and I see quite a few around the status updates everyday but there is nothing wrong with adding them to groups. There are loads of places on the web where you can get free quotes, just Google it.

That’s my 3 and I would love to know what kind of things you guys like to post. You don’t need to keep promoting the same business opportunity that another 60 odd people are promoting. Build up your list of blog post on Notepad as well as quotes and capture page posts.

Just a word of caution and please read this. Take your time when making posts and rotate your post every time. You should spread your posting through the day or you will get your account shutdown.

There are two ways that you can build your Network Marketing business. First chase your family and friend and keep badgering them until you become an NFL (No Friends Left). You can stand in shopping malls pestering complete strangers and leave fliers on cars.

Or second, you can work from the comfort of your own home and all your leads and business come to you.

Which one would you prefer to do?

Well mine, like most  people is the second and it’s called attraction marketing. I want to share with you my 5 reasons why you need attraction marketing in your business. These are just my 5, there are many more but these are the ones that have really made my life so much better.

1. First and foremost, you position yourself as a leader even if you are brand new to this industry. You can start simple by learning a particular skill, say how to generate leads on Facebook. Write some articles and post them on the internet. By helping others first you will help yourself in the long run. Who you would prefer to do business with, somebody who has taken the time to show you how to do something like generate leads on Facebook or somebody who has no interest in you and just pitches their business opportunity to you?
2. Attraction marketing coupled to a great Lead Generation System will sort all the time wasters from the serious people for you. All this can be done on auto pilot so you only talk with the most qualified people. Imagine cold calling 50 people a day who have no interest in what you have to offer. How much time is that going to take? You have no idea that they don’t care about your product or service so all you are on is a fishing trip. You might get a bite but don’t count on it.  With an attraction marketing system and lead generation system you can show your product or service to 10 times that amount 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. Sounds good right!
3. No selling. When I started out I did not want to sell and was informed by my upline that this is not a selling business. Great I thought until you find out you have to sell products to make money. I’m not a sales person and I never wanted to be but with attraction marketing there is no need to learn how to sell. This is because it’s about building relationships and trust with people. I only ever buy from people who I trust, never from people who offer no value.
4. Attraction marketing is about branding you and not your company. There could be millions of people all promoting the same MLM company but there is only one you so you can stand out. If all those people are using the same replicated website and company literature what differentiates them from each other? Nothing, they are all offering the same thing but if you are using attraction marketing you will be marketing yourself and your skills to help others by adding value. This was a breakthrough for me when I found attraction marketing and paired that up with a lead generation system which can be fully customised to brand me as the product. This is very important.
5. The ability to start earning an income from multiple sources so I could learn the skills needed to become successful in this industry. By making small commissions on products but having different commission streams money can be made from day one. I look as my primary business as a pension fund, it’s where I will get my residual income from and the biggest part of my income. However I am not relying on my primary business as an only source of income which can take years to build up. By learning attraction marketing and having a lead generation system in place has kept me in the game for longer as it has never cost me any money.

That’s my 5 reasons why you must learn attraction marketing. Yours might very well be different from mine and they will be the reasons why it has helped you.

I first set up my Twitter account around 2 years ago and to be honest I really could not see the whole point of it. I just didn’t get what was going on. People selling, pitching and promoting every 5 seconds. I mean how would anyone see my tweets and would they really care?

Move the clock forward 2 years to today and let’s be honest not much has changed. No I don’t mean I still don’t get it but have you noticed how much spam there is on Twitter?

Every 5 seconds or so the next big opportunity is posted to Twitter. Every now and then somebody posts some V.A.C (Value Added Content) which is a relief from all that spam. So really how hard is it to post V.A.C to your followers? Not really to tell you the truth, you can get at least 5 to 10 great post per day.

The first and this is a new one on me is to join a blogging tribe. Which is basically a group of people who work together to syndicate their blogs. I was introduced to this concept a couple of weeks ago and have been blown away by the results in less than 2 weeks.

The second is when you read a great article hit the Retweet button and share that content. Your followers will love this and see you as somebody who wants to share valuable information with them and not just how much money you can make from them.

The third and another that I get great response from is to post motivational quotes.  Where can you get these quotes from, well head over to http://motivateus.com/ or http://www.motivationalquotes.com/ to get a great selection of quotes you can post daily. People always love to read a good quote and you can also post them to Facebook as well.

I have also found that the time of day you send your tweets is important. I live in the UK so I tend to send my tweets between 6pm GMT and 8am GMT as I have followers from around the world but most are in the USA or Europe.

I love setting thing up on autopilot and I use Socialoomph.com which is very easy to use so you can schedule your tweets for the time of day that would suit you.

By doing these little things you will start to build that all important trust which you must have at the start of any relationship.

So get on Twitter and start posting great quality content.
