Chapter 6 of The Science of Getting Rich (5) took me a little by surprise at first but then I began to put the pieces together.

The only way to become rich is by giving people more value than what you take from them. This is the basis of attraction marketing so in other words it is not a new concept.

Now I’m pretty sure that a certain Mike Dillard has read this book, which was written and published 100 years ago and turned into the attraction marketing we all know today.

When you think about it this really should be the bases of all business. You wouldn’t pay over the odds for a product that wasn’t worth that amount of money.

By giving more value than you get in return you are not only going to help yourself on the road to success but you are also helping out other people. And as we all know this is the basis for trust and building relationships.

You also sell people want they need to solve a problem and also at the right price. No point trying to sell a book about online marketing to someone who never has any intention of marketing online, no matter how much of a bargain it is, it worthless to them even if it is free.

Show them how to market offline and no matter what the product cost if it makes them rich then it is of great value to them.

Really this chapter was split into two sections for me, the first being about attraction marketing and the second is about forming mental images in your mind for what you want.

I’m sure every one of us has heard about the board you put on your office wall with pictures of all the thing you want from your business. Well this is a form of creating that image in your own mind, it’s just a reminder on the wall.

Remember how we have talked about the power of your mind in Mondays post “The First Principle of Getting Rich and The Power of Thought” and how a single thought could change the way you live your life.

By having a mental image of what you want to achieve and keeping focused on that image you will have that success. Keep focusing on what is important to you and never let anything stand in your way.

I love my hobby, well actual I love both of them. It why I do them because of the pleasure I get from them.

My first hobby is following my football team Leeds United. It’s a time consuming, expensive hobby and one that’s had it’s up and downs the last few years.

It takes up quite a bit of time at the weekends since I live over 200 miles away from their home ground so I have about a 7 hour round trip on match day. Is it worth it, well yes if we win but it’s a hell of a long drive back to Swindon from Leeds if we lose.

My second hobby is one that I wanted to do as a job when I was a child and that’s cooking.  Again it can be a very time consuming and expensive hobby.

From the preparation time to the buying of weird and wonderful ingredients that in all honest I may not use again for a while as there is always something new to try.

But for all the time and money I put into them it really doesn’t bother me because they are what they are, a hobby. And hobbies are supposed to be time consuming and expensive.

Why did you start you network marketing business? More money, spend time with your family, fire your boss maybe?

But are you treating it as a business or a very expensive, time consuming hobby?

You have to treat your business as a business and nothing else. It is there for you to work and to make money from not to take money from you.

I think the reason why some many treat it as a hobby is because they are still in their comfort zone. What I mean is they still have a full time job and are just really looking at alternatives to their current lifestyle.

Maybe it doesn’t matter if they make money or not because they can simply quit and go back to the day job.

If I’m honest I would say that in the very early days I treated my business as a hobby because I was in a comfort zone and I found it difficult to step outside that zone and do new things.

Maybe that is the real problem, stepping out your comfort zone, talking to new people, doing something that you have never done before.

However help is at hand and by having the right system and training in place stepping outside your comfort zone is so easy because now there is no chasing people, giving presentation, trying to push you opportunity onto anyone who will stand still long enough.

People come to you and want your help so your business becomes a business and not a hobby. Using attraction marketing and a system that offers your prospects a solution you are best placed to step outside that comfort zone and start building your business.

Make time for your hobbies just make sure your business is not one of them.

If you want to have a very expensive, time consuming hobby might I suggest you take up golf. There is always the 19^th hole if you have a bad day.

There are two ways that you can build your Network Marketing business. First chase your family and friend and keep badgering them until you become an NFL (No Friends Left). You can stand in shopping malls pestering complete strangers and leave fliers on cars.

Or second, you can work from the comfort of your own home and all your leads and business come to you.

Which one would you prefer to do?

Well mine, like most  people is the second and it’s called attraction marketing. I want to share with you my 5 reasons why you need attraction marketing in your business. These are just my 5, there are many more but these are the ones that have really made my life so much better.

1. First and foremost, you position yourself as a leader even if you are brand new to this industry. You can start simple by learning a particular skill, say how to generate leads on Facebook. Write some articles and post them on the internet. By helping others first you will help yourself in the long run. Who you would prefer to do business with, somebody who has taken the time to show you how to do something like generate leads on Facebook or somebody who has no interest in you and just pitches their business opportunity to you?
2. Attraction marketing coupled to a great Lead Generation System will sort all the time wasters from the serious people for you. All this can be done on auto pilot so you only talk with the most qualified people. Imagine cold calling 50 people a day who have no interest in what you have to offer. How much time is that going to take? You have no idea that they don’t care about your product or service so all you are on is a fishing trip. You might get a bite but don’t count on it.  With an attraction marketing system and lead generation system you can show your product or service to 10 times that amount 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. Sounds good right!
3. No selling. When I started out I did not want to sell and was informed by my upline that this is not a selling business. Great I thought until you find out you have to sell products to make money. I’m not a sales person and I never wanted to be but with attraction marketing there is no need to learn how to sell. This is because it’s about building relationships and trust with people. I only ever buy from people who I trust, never from people who offer no value.
4. Attraction marketing is about branding you and not your company. There could be millions of people all promoting the same MLM company but there is only one you so you can stand out. If all those people are using the same replicated website and company literature what differentiates them from each other? Nothing, they are all offering the same thing but if you are using attraction marketing you will be marketing yourself and your skills to help others by adding value. This was a breakthrough for me when I found attraction marketing and paired that up with a lead generation system which can be fully customised to brand me as the product. This is very important.
5. The ability to start earning an income from multiple sources so I could learn the skills needed to become successful in this industry. By making small commissions on products but having different commission streams money can be made from day one. I look as my primary business as a pension fund, it’s where I will get my residual income from and the biggest part of my income. However I am not relying on my primary business as an only source of income which can take years to build up. By learning attraction marketing and having a lead generation system in place has kept me in the game for longer as it has never cost me any money.

That’s my 5 reasons why you must learn attraction marketing. Yours might very well be different from mine and they will be the reasons why it has helped you.
