SEO Positioning
Your SEO positioning is determined by a number of factors made up of different things which will position your posts and articles within Google. Many people believe that page rank is all important and there is some truth to that, but your position is made up of much more than just your page rank.
Many people think that if they just do some keyword research; make sure their SEO content is good and throw a few links at the page and see where they end up. Now wouldn’t it be better to know what you’re looking at and seeing what you competition is doing?
In this post I am going to share with you the secrets of what to look for when you are going after a particular keyword. They are listed in order of importance.
- Backlinks
- Page Rank
- Keyword in the URL
- Keyword in the Title
- Keyword in the Description
- Domain Age
SEO Positioning – What To Look For
Backlinks – These are the most important things to look at with each keyword. If a page has 1000s of backlinks you don’t really stand much change of beating that page, move on to something else. The lower the number the better your chances are of ranking above that page.
Page Rank – This is really important for the authority of your blog, but it is still behind backlink in importance for ranking for keywords. I have seen page rank 4 and 5 lower down than page rank 0 or 1 sites simply because of back links. It so important to get page rank for other reasons, so work on your page rank to get more keywords listed.
Keyword in the URL – I’m not talking about going out and buying the domain of the keyword, although this helps a lot, but you can set you post up so that the keyword is there in the URL. This holds a lot of weight and will help tremendously will SEO positioning.
Keyword in the Title – this is looking to see if the person who wrote the posts has done any form of SEO by adding the title to the post. You will find that sites with high page rank and lots of backlinks don’t bother with this so it’s worth doing yourself.
Keyword in the Description – Again this is the same as having the keyword in the title and if they have done any SEO on the first sentence of the post.
Domain Age – This holds some weight but not a lot but I think that it is still worth mentioning. Obviously there is not much you can do about the age of your blog but as it gets older it will grow in
the eyes of Google.
By following these simple SEO tips and tricks your will be able to work out how you can beat different sites with different keywords. There is not a lot of search engine optimization cost involved doing this and it will pay you back over and over again.
What you have to remember about SEO positioning is that you only have to be slightly better than your competition in order to get a better ranking than them.
