Do You Have The Right To Be Rich?
Wow that’s a pretty strong question wouldn’t you say? Does anyone have that right to be rich and wealthy and have everything in life that they want?
It’s a question that I have thought about and I was always of the mindset that nobody had the right unless they earned it.
However I feel challenged by that now as I have just started to read “The Science-of-Getting-Rich” by Wallace D. Wattles and the first chapter is titled The Right to be Rich.
What I have found in the first chapter is that the author is proclaiming that we are a very materialistic bunch of people. Well it he may have a point but are we really that materialistic and must have the latest gadget or car.
If you think about it then being rich allows you to buy the things people with less money that you can’t. It allows you to travel, experience new and exciting cultures things. You can fulfil all of your dreams because you are financially free from a job and debt.
We could also say that being rich allows you to educate yourself and immerse yourself in new found knowledge.
In the first chapter the author talks about money as being rich. This leads to other areas of being rich such as the mind and soul. Bearing in mind that the book was published 100 years ago maybe mindsets have changed over that short period of time.
One statement that I really like was that anyone who did not want to be rich must be abnormal since they would never live a life which is fuller, rich happier life because they would never have the mone to achieve those things.
But this brings me back to the original question; do you have the right to be rich?
In my opinion the answer is no, I don’t think anyone on the planet has that right. What I do think is everyone is more than capable of being rich and having everything that the earn.
I believe that to be rich is a right that is earned. Once you earn the right to something then I believe you have more respect for what you have achieved and others will also respect you.
