A Critical Review of Google+
Literally, no one could understand what exactly Google Wave was all about. Even if, they did, they actually had no idea how to use it. It was highly criticized. Similar to it, some other social media websites, like Orkut and Buzz also failed to make any huge impact over the users. So, basically Google took a step further and created Google plus.
Google+ critics say that it is designed as a Facebook killer. Because, the current social network leader is Facebook with over 700 million users all over the world. Let’s take a deep look into the features of Google plus and find out whether it can make its mark or not and increase your social media presence.
Circles
Circles feature in Google+ are fairly a new concept with a lot of twists and turns. This is a very handy experience for all those users who find it really very difficult to create lists to separate people on Facebook. Circles give you the liberty of putting people in circles and control what kind of updates each one of them see.
However, the bad side of it is that people can add you to their circles without even taking permission from you. From Google+ critics’ point of view, it could be bothersome experience for anyone, as so many strangers would be able to add you to their Google+ account circles.
Privacy
Privacy features of Google+are not as lengthy as Facebook privacy settings are. As, in Google plus, you don’t need to go through different settings and options to adjust your privacy settings. However, the only solution that Google has yet to come up with is to stop sharing the posts from a limited number of people to more.
Hangout
Hangout experience is truly wonderful, as you are able to have video group chat with people in your circles with just a single click. Quality of the call is always superb and there is no disturbance in service at all. All these aspects makes Hangout one of the best features of Google plus.
But, some of the Google+ critiques tend not to agree with it, because, most of the people in your circles will not be familiar to each other. So, they might find it weird to be included in the video group chats.
Google plus Android app
Instant upload feature in it is great, because you can upload photos easily to your Picassa account. But, the Huddle feature fails to make any good impact on Google+ critiques, because, it doesn’t have a way to select people you would want to add in for the group chat.
Conclusion
Overall, Google plus is not the remarkable failure as most of the critics predicted. This is a very interesting social network website, which is not imitating Facebook or Twitter, but can definitely stand out as new social networking thing. It has its own good and bad features. If Google can fix the missing features like quiz and game apps, search features and personal messages, then surely it can compete with Facebook. What’s your say?
