What Is A Blog Bounce Rate?

It’s a question you have properly never thought of asking yourself and one that you may or may not have any idea what your bounce rate is or why it is important.

So let’s look at what your blog bounce rate is first. To put it simply, your bounce rate is when somebody visits your blog and they bounce off your blog.

In other words they land on a particular page and they leave through the same page. They don’t click and go to some other page on your blog.

It doesn’t really matter how long they spend on the page that’s important but where they go next. If it’s to leave your site then you will have a higher bounce rate. I know when I started my blog I have a high bounce rate as you can see in the image below.

But around June last year it started to come down. So what was I doing differently to get it down and what can you do to get you bounce rate down and more people searching through your blog.

How To Drop Your Blog Bounce Rate

First you have to have killer content that is relevant to your niche marketing. Stay on topic with your posts and make the reader want to stay on your blog. Don’t write posts that are too long, use video as everyone loves to watch videos.

Use links within your posts that link to other relevant posts on your blog. This is a great way to get people to look deeper into you blog. Also they leave your blog from a different page to where they came in and this will increase blog traffic.

Remove all of your adverts from your side bar, if your blog looks like a billboard most people will be put off. If you have banners and links, put them on a separate page that visitors can go to.

Have easy navigation that will invite people to click on the tabs. Flexibility 3 theme is excellent for setting up the tabs. Again once visitors click the tabs so they are moving around your blog and therefore will leave from a different page.

Have a search box on your blog so that your visitors can navigate around your blog with ease. As you add more content to your blog so will the list of articles people can search on. You will be very surprised by how much the search box will make a difference.

Don’t worry too much to start with if you have a high bounce rate as this will come down if you just follow the simple tips to help people move around your blog. Really that is what you are trying to achieve, making it easy for people to move around your blog.

They will do this if it is interesting to read and relevant to what they are searching for online. If you want to check you blog bounce rate and other valuable information about your blog then install Goggle Analytics.
