The Attitude of Gratitude
Gratitude: noun appreciation of kindness; thankfulness.
That is the Oxford English Dictionary’s meaning of the word gratitude but what does it really mean to all of us at this time.
In these hard economic times a vast majority of people would say they have nothing to be apperceive about. People losing their jobs, life saving and homes.
In Chapter 7 of The Science of Getting Rich, Wallace Wattles talks about gratitude and I always thought that it was something to do with being grateful for what you already have.
And in a way it is, but it is much more powerful than that. By having gratitude it keeps you close to success.
The rich have an appreciation of everything that comes to them. They do not dwell on the negative, only looking at the positive. The poor will always look at the negative; therefore they will always stay in that mindset of being poor.
It’s why the rich keep getting richer and the poor stay poor. You get what you surround yourself with so you have to change your environment.
Everything around us at the moment should be looked at as an opportunity to progress and advance. The rich will take the opportunity but the poor will not, instead blaming and finding excuses for their current downfall.
There is a great sentence in this chapter and one which I personally thinks sums up the whole chapter to a tee.
“Do not rage against, corrupt politicians: if it were not for politicians we should fall into anarchy, and your opportunity would be greatly lessened.”
How true is that statement, without our politicians making a complete mess of everything we would not have this great opportunity to expand, progress and advance.
Of course not everyone will see it as an opportunity but the fact still remains that it is an opportunity and one we must grab with both hands.
