Affiliate Marketing For Dummies
Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online, so I wanted to write this post about affiliate marketing for dummies to explain what affiliate marketing is about. Really there are three types of affiliate program you can join and they will be explained in the video below.
By the end of this post and video you will have a great understand which affiliate program you should be choosing. You will also need some affiliate marketing strategies that will help you drive traffic to you program for free.
The first place most people head to when looking at affiliate marketing is Clickbank, where you can sale an affiliate product on just about any subject you can think of. You can make some good money from these programs but here is the one big, massive drawback, you are not building your own list but somebody else’s list.
Now for me that really is affiliate marketing for dummies, you must be able to build your own list of prospects and customers. Once you own a list you can market to that list forever. Very important, build your own list.
The second type of affiliate program is the ones that come with the tools you use online, these ones are great because they are something you use every day, they normally come with a residual monthly income but like clickbank you’re not building your own list.
To be honest that is not so much a problem for me because these companies tend to stick around and pay out each month. Also they are there to provide a service such as an auto responder so they are not for the purpose of building a list.
That’s where the third and final affiliate program comes into play, this is your lead generation program where they will let you build your own list and pay you for each person you introduce to the system.
You should always look for a company that will provide you with all the tools you will need to build your business. My affiliate marketing guide will explain fully what you should be getting, if anything is missing then look somewhere else.

While this may appear to be the case, many of the vendors are sending the visitor you sent them through your affiliate link, follow up emails through their autoresponder, which could still result in you getting credit (& the commission) for a sale made some time after the initial visit by your “customer”. usually these emails are sent out every two days or so over a period of up to 60 days to keep your prospect warm and hopefully they will eventually buy the product. You still win!

You hit the nail right on the head Michael, You have quite right said they send them follow ups from their auto-responder, not the words their auto-responder. This means you are wasting your time building their list for them. You can not market to that list have any form of contact to with that list as you do not own the list.
This is one of the reasons why so many people fail badly at affiliate marketing, they do not understand they they must build and own their own list of people. So you do not ever win as you put it by building somebody list for them. I really hope that you take more responsiblity when advising people like this as what you have put in this comment is very bad advice.
